I’ll be in conversation with Delia Falconer talking about What Will Be Worn: a McWhirters story. We’ll cover themes including fashion and the demise of the department store, the bonds that mother and daughters share, legacies of family and more.
21 Sept: Morning tea at Berkelouw Eumundi Bookshop & Cafe

I’ll be talking about my book and its Sunshine Coast connections at Berkelouw Eumundi Bookshop & Cafe. The cafe have kindly agreed to offer a special too: buttermilk scones with jam and cream with coffee or tea, just $7! As my grandmother would have said, what a bargain!

Fiona and the team at Books of Buderim are hosting me at an afternoon event to talk about What Will Be Worn and McWhirters. There will be tea and coffee, cheese platters, and champagne – all included!
23 Sept: Remembering McWhirters at Under the Greenwood Tree, Mount Tamborine
Sunday 23 September, Under the Greenwood Tree Books & Art @ 2pm.
Janene, the owner of Under the Greenwood Tree, used to manage the McWhirters Artspace in the early 1990s. And apparently there are a few significant connections with McWhirters in the local area. Janene is hosting an author talk, followed by signings and refreshments.
13 Oct: McWhirters & Valley retail history at the Hidden Lanes Festival
Saturday 13 October @ 2.30pm.
I’ve been invited to talk about McWhirters and the retail history of the Valley at the new Hidden Lanes Festival. The festival is a celebration of the tenants of Winn, California and Bakery Lanes. There’ll also be live music, art, workshops, food and drink – basically a whole lot of fun stuff. Thrilled to be a part of this one!
14 Oct: Private lives of public buildings at Miegunyah House (as part of Brisbane Open House)
